Dear Aris, The gifted program is a center for special education for kids who are above average instead of below average which is what most speical eduction is. It is called EEE for - I'm not sure what the letters are for. With The Big Brown Box we've been learning the ways you can figure out ways to solve patterns and ways to break things down because we have been breaking many boxes down. I thought it was cute with the little tiny beavers that are so adorable with their buck teeth . . it was cute that they were chewing a hole ain th box while the kids were tearing it down. When you look at the page that tells you about the butterfly and you look at Patty and she is holding the butterfly and it is the same with Liza . . .the thing thatthey are holding is the same thing that is in their room. The illustrations look like they were cut of things or they were water-colored. The sides of the box are cracking on the last page. The locks on the door are locks on their freedom. I like the line that says "If freedom is handled just your way then it's not my freedom or free." I really like that line because it's talking about how parents shouldn't just be allowed to take their freedom away. The parents aren't asking them what they want to do. Parents take the freedom away but it isn't their freedom to take away because freedom isn't a priveledge - it is a right. You don't have any power to take away anyone's rights.
From what the picture shows (the chart on the door) it looks like they never had any freedom to begin with. On the picture where Patty is with the adults and all of her things are on the table it shows pictures of people and nature. She really wants to have friends and play outside so she draws pictures of nature.

i really like this sentence too.
i am very lucky to have a very good mom.she always let me decide what to do.but in our taditional society(i mean in taiwan),children are asked to do everything our parents or teachers want us to do.we don't have many choice about our study, work or even future.those adults take only students with good grades as good kids.and the others who is good at everything but not studying are always treated like that you are really good for nothing......
i really don't like that, and i am wondering if it is the same in america?
