I think in the first picture when he peeks through the fence he is looking specious and looking to see what is behind the fence. Ian's parents got a divorce so he doesn't have his dad and Mr. Mah lost his wife and even though it's a boy and a girl it doesn't matter and Mr. Mah feels he lost a big part of his life and so does Wild Goose. He looks at his tractor which reminds him of his father on the farm and Mr. Mah looks in his little black box for a picture of his wife. Mr. Mah shared a pack of seeds to put in the hole he dug. They both have a box. Ian has a shoe box. Mr. Mah teaches Wild Goose a lot about Chinese history and the cemetary. wild goose had mr.mah hat on at the end

The Book "Me and Mr. Mah"

I think mr. Mah didn't accept the tractor because he didn't like machines because he likes to garden by hand. I also think that Mr. Mah and Ian wanted to be friends because they each trusted each other by showing each other thier special box. Mr. Mah showed his things from China and Ian showed his things from when he lived with his dad.

I'm curious how that mr.mah broke his hip i think he did it on purpose to get ian's attention.if he done that he could of told the truth!!!if my mom thought that box wasnt mr.mah's i wouldnt mess with that box

I think the reason mr.mah called Ian "wild goose" is that he knew that Ian was very lonely and want to fly to somewhere that he used to be.and Ian was so eagered to fly back to his father and had a completed family .
And the most important thing i learned from the story is that FRIENDSHIP WILL BEGIN EVERYWHERE.and i think that it is no matter a friend is old,young,smart or unwitty.the most important thing is that if your friend is ture and can be your harbor when you are sad,angry......and i think we don't need to have many fiends but close friends.

Me and the wonderful book

It's my favorite book among the books we have read. It's smooth,warm and touching way of writing attracked me a lot.
Though the boy in the story moved away from his dad and everything he was used to, but he was lucky to find someone to comfort him.
This reminds me whatever bad happens to me, I can always find another gift from God somewhere if I look for it with my heart.

about the Q.

i think the fence represent Ian don't know how to get along with people
and seldom talk to others. and he is quite lonely.
and about the sunflowers which he planted at the end of the story.
i think that's mean because of getting alone with mr.mah,
he has changed himself into a bright people .

I think the book was about friends and how friends can help each over and have a good time.

the book me and mr.mah really touched me.Because i had a old man for a friend and his wife got sick too.but she survived because shes a SURVIVER!!!I DIDNT MEAT HER.I think she would of been a nice ladie/wife.that was really sad that his wife died and he broke his hip and give his precious things to Ian.Mr.mah is generous.HE looked he was in his late sixtys.the big beard and all those wrinkles.At the end Ian had mr.mah's chinese hat on. or ian boutgh his own chinese hat and i doubt that. and like i said that book touched me.tnak you for reading.sometimes i get sensitive about sad books i almost cried.

about the book-Me and Mr. Mah

I think that it's a really touching book. It showed a friendship between a young boy and an old man. We know that it's not easy to find a friend that is totally opened up to you and who you can trust, so when we got a friend like Mr. Mah , we should always be good at our friends and hold them tight.

A true friend

I really want to have a friend like this! A true friend can share something to you, like her memories, feeling and something important to her. It's just like you have a dairy but it can speak, reflec and give you some suggestions. It's wonderful and nice if you have a close friend.


Maybe we can be friends like this!! ^^

finally i 've finished reading this book.
people get along with others and gradually cultivate friendship.
they try to know each other more and open to them .
such as the same about we and maybe our friends.
at the begining, we are strange to each other.
but after a few times we will try to talk to them and maybe become good friends.
i think the book is quite warmness.
it shows that we still have humanness in our lives.

I think that in the book Bouncer is a bossy, rude,and almost the bad one in the story.

-A idea pop's into his head and he does it or says it without thinking over it.

this book has different characters Like Bouncer is bossy. He thinks he knows how to run hisi own group like village. He doesn't think over his questions before he says it but Jenny, on the other hand, she organizes her thoughts and she doesn't forget what she is saying and she speaks up to Bouncer. Bouncer just wants to get attention but he doesn't what to get blamed if they lost the battle of the big, hairy Skog. Bouncer thinks he is stronger and better than everyone else. They need to have a vote. Bouncer and Jenny should run the village together so they can put their ideas together and then have a debate with the village and every month they will take turns being President. They should talk about stuff and think before they do it. They could put everyone's ideas in a box and then put the ideas out on the table and try their ideas in order.

Skog Island, by Melanie.

I think the answer is our fear to what we don't know. When the group of mice first came to the Skog's island, the Skog was a strange creature to the mice. On the other hand, the Skog was also scard. But in the end when they truely meet each other, they finally found that the fear was unnessary. Are we doing the same thing as the mice do? Before we really know the people, are we controlled by our fear? I think it is the main idea what it wants to tell us.

the questions discussion

1. Bouncer represents the people that believe in power could solve all the problems, and Jenny represents the people who just wanna keep everything as simple as they could, we can see it from her suggestion of switching there destination to a safer island. I don't prefer either one of them, 'cause sometimes you gotta be like Bouncer, deal with it, face it, avoiding problems are not the best way of solving problems. But, of course, most of the time, our priority is to avoid anything that is harmful happen, just like what Jenny thought.
2. He is the one who spoke first and no one fought against him at that time point.
3.This behavior shows that Bouncer is totally a loser. When everything is going well, he wanna be the first one that takes all the credits, and when things are losing control, he just threw all the responsibilities away and pretend that it's none of his business. He decided to take control again because he saw that everything was going well again.
4. I disagree with the "and I will be the king!" part, he was just being too selfish.
5. 'Cause we all see him as the leader of the group of mice.
6. Why didn't the mice think that Bouncer was being too annoying at first?
7.I think she means "Why did the skog wear so big costumes", because the skog was afraid that its safe and lonely life would be disturbed by those strangers, that's why the skog wanna keep those mice away by scaring them to death.
8. Because normally we would see Jenny's opinion as a wise thought, it not only keep everyone safe but also solve the problems. And the leaders should always be the smartest one, that's why they viewed Jenny as a leading character.

The skog is a lovely book. While reading it, those lovely pictures made me read it happily and accept the main idea in it easily. I think what the author tried to express to us is to avoid taking the defensive first move before understanding each other. Or we might have extra troubles which are not necessary.
I really like those drawings on the pages. I have to study meny textbooks in recent days(and some of them are quite boring as you can imagine), so I really had fun reading it and relaxing. Maybe some of you think it's too easy for you, enjoy the adorable iconograph then!

Skog = tamandua ?

What creature do the Skog is? Is it an tamandua ? I have seen an ant bear in Pink Panther, but it's blue in it. By the way, do anyone has seen this cartoon before?

Bouncer Bouncer

I think Bouncer wants easy lives and don't want to take an adventure. He always fancies him as a "great" leader, but in fact, he just wants to eat the best, use the best and want everyone to respect him. He is like some people in the society and we should avoid being a co-work with them or we may feel angry and want to punch him......
But I think he led music in the end means he love his companies and I think it also means everyone is in a huge family forever......

1.i think Bouncer did something i might do too. and as jenny's suggestion, it can avoid guys to get hurt.
2.Bouncer become the captain by being a volunteer.
3.Bouncer did somthing just like some people. they don't want to do things are hamble.

I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK . THE ANIMALS WERE SO COOL BECAUSE THEY WOULD FIGHT OVER WHO'S LAND IT WAS

We read the book agin and i loved it even more,the book tough a great message,about not to judje somebody before you meet them.I think at the end of the book Bouncer was still kind of bossy, and Jenny still wanted a peace-full island,I also notised some parts in the book that I didn't hear befor, I felt bad for the Skog because he didn't have any friends and when the mice came he felt scared and he was also scared of the trapps that the mice put out.And if I was the skog I would aso feel scared. But at the end of the storey the skog made friends with the mice.

Now I'm on to a new subject.Me and the 3rd 4th and 5th grades from our school (and some other schools came to)went to a japanese drumming group called ''Yamoto''. It was so good,there was this guy i (forgot his name)was very funny.

After reading this books, I really like Skog!! It's little but really cute!^^
The pictures are elegant and the article make me think deeply, though it is just a short story. I think, at first, everyone has equal chance. But when you faced pressures or you want to change your life better, you must have a great of boldness. During the time, you have to face all kinds of problem and must figure it out and carry on. If you do so, then you have succeed. But if you give up, then you just lose the ticket to a rosy and wonderful future. I wish I can do my best and do not give up when I do everything. Then, our life would be more interesting then before. And when you have succeed, you’ll feel there is a great achievement in your mind!

when i first see the book. i was a little shock.
how can a book be painted so well.
and about the story, i think it's telling if we want to have something like freedom.

what I learned from this book is that before you get to know someone, don't do any mean thing or whatever that is impolite to them just because you didn't like them at first, maybe after you get to know them well you'll like who they are. I like this book, it's cute and interesting. :)
