hot suff .com

do you like this book why not or why do you like this book. this book is a allegory book do think that this book that ciandof book i think so cause the way it sounded

hot suff.com why do

why do you think that the baby rabbit was the one that thought big at the end of the book he was the one that said if we just have sick together and was one that said if we gust stick together we could have got out of there? why do you think that the baby rabbit was right and why do you think the rabbit is wrong?tell me why do you think that and what
have you did the same or different in your own words tell why or not i read a book called number the stars it is gust like this book and ever way they had the Nazis that took away the Jew's the ware there Friends and it took them time to get use to in there life.

Holicost/Terible Things

I learned that the story was about the holicost. so i think that the story is talking about people instead of animals and sort of like there story and how people with disabilitys and Jews and the list could go on of people that the Nazis killed. and Hitler was the leader of the Nazis. The Nazis and there people killed millions of people. so that is my openion on who the terible things are. I think that the terible smell could be gun powder, smoke, toxins, and a whole lot of other things. this stuff could go on and on with all the number of things that have happened because you'll never know unless you have asked the author or you are the other. In class we also read a book by Patricia Puloco about how a older man had been in a consontration camp where they would do horibal things to people here are some pics of what you had on your arm and in consontration camps.

hot suff.com

i think that the animals rep people and the civil war that the took a way the Jew's and the mental people and other people like that in the world.don't know about you but i thinkthis book has opened my eyes about the war and ever thing else.

terrible things

the book, i think, is very meaningful. and the pictures are my favorite ones.

i think, people should care others more.
not only between family but friends, classmates or even those we don't know.

i'd like to talk about friends.
friends, i believe, are people who care each other and can share the ups and downs of their lives.
friends should CARE.
if someone only cares about himself, that CAN'T BE a friend.
if someone who always ignors the other's feelings, it CAN'T BE a friend either.
a TRUE FRIEND should be a person that you can count on and always want to listen.

there won't be a lot of true friends in our lives, so we should always be thankful to those who love us and always remember to CARE!!!

P.S.
to ginny,
i am really sad to say goodbye to you.
do you have an email box? if you do,can you leave your email adress? or anything that can keep us in connect......
this is my email address...aris123698745@yahoo.com.tw

Touched by the last book

"Terrible things"is such an imprssive book. I like the way author teach us to be brave to what we think is right. It's extremely touching, it really made me think if I would say something or just let it happen, like the most of us......
Do YOU always say something to support what you think is right? We know that ignoring others' terrible behaviors is wrong, but most of the time, ignoring is what we choose. The consequences could be a disaster for all of us.
The drawing of this book is amazing. How simple the color is, but the beauty it express is beyond discription. How do you think?Do you like its style?

It has been a special and wonderful year for me to talk with you. Here's my MSN :emmagrangerharry@livemail.tw
Looking forward to chatting with you again!

the terrible thing

I'm not sure what exactly the Terrible Thing is, but it is surely unwelcoming. I saw the short passage in the beginning of the book, and it seemed to say something about Hitler and The Nazis(if it didn't i apologize for my mistake.) According to that passage, I think the whole story has something to do with the power that has been held in some certain people and the sufferers during world war II(which are kinda like those animals in the story).
I think those rabbits should be much more well-alert after all those other creatures had been caught away by the terrible thing. It's obvious that they are under danger, but regrettably they didn't take the little rabbit's word seriously and instead they just refused to face it and take action.

Well I think humans do the same thing all the time in real life, there are times when we are confronted by those terrible things. What ever they are, we should be brave enough to face 'em. And the most important part, LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THOSE WHOEVER TRYING TO WARN YOU, their opinion might get you through the tough situation.

The Terrible Things

i think the author didn't tell the terrible things clearly
so it can be anything that is harmful.
and i think after some animals were taken away, the rabbit should
notice that something might happened later and be careful or leave
the unsafe place.
actually before the terrible things come rabbits did feel that things were
going to be worse but they just stayed there and thought nothing to do with them. and about this i think it's quite scary just like people now used to be
unconcerned. sometimes it's really terrible.

this is the last book, i have to say i really enjoy this project.
and it's nice to have a chance like this.

The terrible things

I think "the terrible things" means our human.
We want lots of fish to eat, then we'll catch every of them.
We human always gets too many things from nature and we have never fed back.
If one day, we human is not the strongest, smartest beings, we may suffer from the same adversity just like the fish.

And, I like its pictures!! It's really beautiful and the book "smells" great!!

the terrible things

i think the trrible things are huntersa nd that the 3th shadow is a hunting dog. i also think that the hunters are pochers. i think that what they were doing is illegal and that they have no right to do that
Who where the ''Terible things"? I dont know for sure because the author never tells, do you? If you tell me what you think they are in my comments plz. I think that they are men that are hunting the animals. it could be wind though too i dont know for sure. I liked the book because it was a mystery in a way and it was a sort of sad in a way too. It was a mystery in a way because the animals nor the people reading the book know who the terible thing is. and it was sad in a way because all the animals where taken away or killed i dont know which one though. I dont know why the Terible Thing was doing all this to the animals for no reason or because they need money or some thing like that. The storey reminded me of the book feathers and fools because in feathers and fools the animals are fighting and the Terible things are fighting with the animals

The Terible Things

I think the book is about the few things in life that make up a whole ecosystem. For example the whole ecosystem was the little clearing and if the all the animals were wiped out there would not be a ecosystem. I think the terrible things were people hunting and a hunting dog. And the nets they used, I don't think they were nets, I think they are shot shells and shot shells are little BB's that spread out like a net . I also think that what the terrible things were doing were poaching and that they were being dishonorable hunters. I know that because I'm a hunter myself. I think that the animals were greedy and not sorry for the loss of there friends or fellow animals. Tell me what you think

friends/Feathers & Fools

The book is kind of crazy like the pecoks are being pretty dumb. Because they just didn't understand that the swans were just having a normal day and donig they are supposed to do. And peacocks thought that they were trying to kill them or something. And that's why the peacocks were being dumb.

The peacocks started the fight because they were accusing the swans for trying to show off and like saying they are better than other birds, by like flying, and swimming, when some other birds couldn't do that and so the peacocks got mad. The end of the story is interesting. Because the peacock baby and the swan baby were frineds and that's why it's kind of interesting. They were enemies first and then they turned into friends, and the sort of war killed each other, except for those two baby birds.

Hotstuff/Book-2

I don't think that peacocks were the ones that started it. I think that the swans were the ones that started the whole thing--the fight, and other things. But basically, the peacocks were just defending their territory. At first they got scared. The peacocks were the ones that wanted to kill them, so they got ready with feathers and they sharpened them to get ready and see when the swans would attack. So they were defending themselves and their babies. They don't want the swans to kill them. But when that swan flew across the sky with the piece of nest in its mouth the peacocks thought that it was a feather so they went down to the pond and started attacking cause they thought the swan a feather to attack them.and the was gust wanted to be safe . the end

Feathers and Fools

I think the book is about 2 sides fugureing that the other side is going to attack them. In this case it is between the Peacocks and the Swans because the peacocks think that the Swans will try to change their ways by making them fly and swim so they sharpen feathers. There is a story about peacocks which Hera Asked a gardian named Argus and he was supposed to watch a wife of Zues and Zues asked Hermes to free his wife and he did but he also had to slay Argus so Hera put all the eyes of Argus (because his whole body was covered in eyes) and put them on a male Peacock. I think there is a myth why swans are white but i'm not sure so I won't say it. I think in the end the two chicks ( the swanling and baby peacock) made to be friends because war is NEVER a good thing.

Hotstuff/book

When I first saw the book, I thought it was going to be about a peacock that had a swan's egg and the swan was kind of like the ugly duckling. And they got picked on about having that weird looking bird. That's what I thought this book was going to be about. (Write back, please.)

Thursday, May 1, 2008

The peacocks were scared of the swans cause they felt threatened by the swans. They thought the swans were better then them and that the swans would force them to do something they didn't want to do. If they had thought about it logically then they would have realized that to be better than some one you have to be nicer .The swan was trying to take care of her babies and so it all started because she was trying to be a good person. She was carrying a reed for the nest and the peacocks thought that she was attacking them and so they really just killed a bunch of good people becasue they wre obsessed with themselves and being perfect. There was one peacock who startd the problem and he was so obsessed --and I think he was the leader --he was so obsessed with his group being the best that he never thoguht that, hey, maybe they aren't going to attack us. He never thought to talk with them and he decided to kill them because one flew over with a feather and it might not have even been on of the sharpened ones.In all of the books that we read little people are solving the problems and they are really big people's problems. The mother could have said, "I'm not attacking you." One peacock said let's attack and all the others followed.
Why did the peacocks decide to be scared of the swans and how could it have been stopped?
I remember from the book Youn and the Christmas Mitten Youn and the American kids where notecing there differences and simalaritys It was the same kind of to the book Feathers and Fools when the pekoc child and the swan chiled they were both discovering there simalaritys and differences. That is my text to text connections. and text to text means when you are compairing 1 book to another book and a text to self is when you read a book and you are making a conection to your self or something that has happend to u And finnaly a text to world which is when you read a book and you make a connectoin to something that happend or is happening in the world.
This one is a text to self and text to world. Usally when two people fight and it is finnaly all done and over with you dont even remember what the fight was started over. That is sort of what happens in this book.

Henry and the Dragon Kite

We are living in a society that have many people of different nationality. This book is about how people deal with other people different from himself. Of course the answer is try to realize the difference between cultures, and to understand the feelings from each other. When Tony threw stones to the kites, what the Chinese children saw is he tried to ruin their kite. But why he really did it is because the pigeons. 4. When did the kids from Chinatown begin to understand Tony’s perspective? When Tony told them the reason behind his behavior. When they understand why he threw stones to their kites. 5. Why do you think this author wanted to write a story about kids for other kids to read? We often misunderstand people when we do not really know them. The story could happen on ourself at any time, so the author maybe want to tell us before they really face problems.

Something I think...

1.
At the park, Tony cries when he thinks his pigeon is going to get hurt by the kite. Why did the author have Tony cry instead of just getting very angry?

I think because Tony really loves his pigeon and he is heartbroken when he thinks his pigeon is going to get hurt but he don't know what to do. He is helpless.

2.
Why do you think this author wanted to write a story about kids for other kids to read?

The author may want to tell children care others feelings and show them some fight based on some misunderstanding .

Henry and the Dragon Kite-The Rivalry

I really have to say sorry first. I was too exhausted this week and ended up going to bed early without getting up on time-and I couldn't believe that I didn't post in time!

I don't know if you know anything about the art of kites in Chinese culture. It was first made to send top secret letter in wars (Of course it had no string at first). But it soon became a kind of beautiful toy that combined physically brilliant disign and carry the most detailed, luxurious painting.

As for the book, I think the rivalry is not only between children came from different area but between people who neglect others' perspectives when they are too eager to protect what they love. It happens everyday, sometimes it turns out hurting every one, but sometimes, just like the story, people understand each other when one person starts to try to be in the other's shoes.

My answer to the Qs:

When did the kids from Chinatown begin to understand Tony’s perspective?

I guess that was since Tony started to behave like someone else, who wasn't mean at all and care about what he loved.

Why do you think this author wanted to write a story about kids for other kids to read?

In reality, not every arguement has a happy ending. Teach children as early as possible to avoid these fights.

What message does this story have for you about decisions you will make in your life ?

Violence is never a good solution. Before being angry about someone or something, I will think throughly if there's anything causes me think with prejudice.

GO TO THE HOME PAGE GROUP BLOG AND GO TO THE NOW TIMES.
When Grandpa Chin said they would not throw rocks because the respect dragons they three rocks anyhow. They threw rocks because they were Italian. Their parents don't tell them to respect dragons because they don't have anything to do with the dragon culture. The Chinese kids marched down to the park. They stood up to Tony because they had enough of him throwing rocks at their beautiful kites. They found out that Tony and his friends were throwing rocks at the kites for a reason and that reason was the Chinese kids and grandfather were chasing Little Italy's birds away and they usaly never came back. So the story goes both ways the Chinese kids were something wrong and so were the kids from Little Italy but Tony knew that he was doing something wrong but the Chinese kids did not.

Question and Answer about Henry and the Dragon Kite

Q: The kids learnd alot about making kites from Grandfather Chin. What other things did they learn from him?
A: I think that the kids learned about being responsible and keeping control of your anger.
Q: After they finished making the Dragon Kite Grandfather Chin said that nobody would dare throw rocks at the kite because " Everyone respects Dragons". He was wrong and the boys still threw rocks. Why?
A: I think the answer is that they were trying to protect their pigeons.
Q: At the park, Tony cries when he thinks that his pigeon is going to get hurt by the kite. Why did the Author have Tony cry instead of getting verry angry?
A: I think that the Author had Tony cry was because he wanted to show that Tony wasn't a bully but he respected and cared for his pigeon. And he just reacted to the Kite by throwing rocks at it.

Pigeons and kites

I think the author uses pigeons and kites symble peace and introduce the Chinese traditional skill.
I think most of fights may happen because the two side didn't understand why he do that and think "oh, he must hates me for no reason". And if both side think in that way, them they really have a big misunderstanding!

Try to calm down and communicate to him, things may be different.

the now times

Hi this me saying that i Will be starting a current events page called THE NOW TIMES. It will be once a week and will tell all about the newest events happening here at LEE.So look on the home blog for THE NOW TIMES.

ginny

Henry and the Kite Dragon

I think the book is about two kids and I think that the kids have their differences and they are both the same (they both love things in the sky). I also think that Tony is a bully on the outside and a kind person on the inside. I think this because of the way he acts to certain things like his pigeon. I think that the only reason why Tony was throwing rocks at the kites was to protect his pigeon. I thought in the begining that the only reason Tony was throwing the rocks was because he disliked chinese people and wanted to be a bully, but in the end I changed my mind because Tony is just trying to look after his pigeon.
I think the only reason Grandfather Chin asked them to not hurt the Itallian kids was because he didn't want good people to go bad. I also think that he did not want the children to go to Tony and his friends was because he felt that if they did that they would never be friends.
I think that Henery was upset because he thought that Tony was trying to just be a bully. I think that Henry should of just went down there and discuss the proublem with tony and just talk about it and then the whole problem would be over quicker. What do you think?

Across the fence.

It's another book about segregation. And I like the painting. It really gives me a warm feeling-between the children, who were not influenced by other things.

And have you noticed that my title is alike our blog's name? The meaning of this book is that breaking the fence between people is something we should do.

I'm going to watch Andrea Bocelli's concert in Taiwan on 4/19. He is blind, but he has a heavenly voice and a kind personality. Well, he can not see, do you think that would make some differences if we can not see each other's appearance but can only know who someone really are?

the other side

this is one of my favorite book.i love its illustration and meaning.

though i am not in america,we have the same problems here in taiwan.i really don't know why there has to be a segregation in our world.i think every one is just the same inside our heart, isn't it?

and i have a question:is there still a segresgation in the USA?

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

the other side

i think this book is quite meanful. usually there are always some different things, habits and apperances between the white and the black. and so there is a deadline that we can't across it. the notion of lifes is now still here. as you grow up the mind of the color line will affect you making decisions. adults usually care more about this kind of problems the reason that they told thier kids not to get to closer to the white is that they are afraid of the kids to be hurt. but to the end they finally played together and become friends.

Crash

I love the illustration and the words are not too difficult to understand but it's meaningful!
Last year, I've watched "Crash". It's about Caucasian,Oriental and African American's lives and what problems they faceed and how they dealt with it.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

The parents were saying that it wasn't safe because they wanted to use that as an excuse. Because I don't think they wanted their kids to know that the world had a segragation. I think when Clover's mom was watching the two girls and she did not get them to get off the fence because she wanted them to get over the segragation.

hot suff

Whenever we look at each other, on that one drawing, they want to say something but Clover's mom was going to say "Don't look at her in the eyes." And Annie's mom is going to say "Look at the eyes." In the picture that Annie's mom is alway wearing pretty dress that just came out of the package that they bought. And Clover's dressess have little stains on them. But they are ok to wear because my mom washes them.

I wasn't here last week but I'v heard the story before and I liked it very much.

That is one of my favorite picture books I think that it is a realy good awaerness story

telling people about how the blacks and whites live. and about the freedome that the

kids needed because Clover Annie needed that freedome so that they could be friends.

I think that sagragathion is wrong but people here still break the law and do that which is pretty

sad.

Spring break :)

On Spring break I went to Springfield, Ohio. I went to all the resteraunts and I got to meet my new cousins. I also got a few things while I was in Ohio. But the drive there is 9 HOURS!!! The drive takes FOREVER. I got so bored that I took 5 naps.

hot stuff

this book rocksssssssssssssssss

I think that this book was trying to compare itself with segregation and that the fence was separating Annie and Clover from being together and when they were walking past each other they were gazing at each other like they wanted to say somethign to each other. But Clover knows what her mother was going to say but when they got friends with each other they got to know more about each other. The first time that Annie asked to play jump rope with them they said no then the other time that she asked when Clover and she were friends they said yes she can play. It seemed like that Annie had more money than Clover because of the way they dressed. Annie dressd more fancy like . . . like she was going out to dinner or something. Clover dresed like jsut a normal person that has a little bit of money. As these friends go conjoined together, they started getting attached to each other . . . like maybe their favorite colors and that Anie liked to jump rope too. and so did Clover. And MY name is Annie. I think that the fence is the guideline between African American people and white people and that the fence was just a guideline like Dr. Martin Luther King said that blacks and whites CAN work things out and live together in thesame world together. I think that the author wrote the book from children's point of view then we have to undestand what these children are going through

snoopy

i like the book becuase it told me alot about theme day's . Black and white were not allowed to be aroud each other or talk to each other. i think that the girl mother did not want her to be around whites just to be on the safe side so there would not be any trouble .
I think that in the picture it looks like the white mom thinks she is better than Clover's mom. I wonder why her name is Clover? Jacquelene Woodson wrote this book to show how even segregation can't keep people who want to be together apart. I think that Clover's mom said that is wasn't safe because the white people were not always nice to Black people and I think that Annie's mom said it that because she was so stuck up and snooty that her daughter would ruin her chances. Clover's mom watched them play. Annie's mother might be ashamed of her daughter playing with a black girl. I have read other books that E. B. Lewis illustrated. When Clover's mom told her to play with the toys, it doesn't look like she wants to play with toys. She is just looking out the window. Kind of in a way her mom is saying you need to sit there and play. She'd rather be playing out in the rain I think that the author wrote about kids because kids are more able to find friends in the strangest ways. Annie is almost always dressed in yellow and I think that is because Clover's house is yellow!

On the Other side.

I think the Author is trying to say that no matter waht you can still have friends. I think the fence was like a border beetween two friends. I also think that the Author ment to make the mom of the white girl look stuck up and snoody. I think that she looked like that because she saw her neighbor and she wanted to make them look bad. What do you think?

The big box

{The picture is from the movie In Her Shoes.The actress Cameron Diaz stared Maggie in the film. At first, she was the one who couldn't handle her freedom. and she learned a lot--this is a brilliant movie, maybe you can watch it!}
Reading this book is something I can enjoy. Talking about freedom that adults give us, we must have A LOT to talk to.

I think the reason that the author write this story to sound like poetry is simply for the beauty of pronunciation. With the beautiful pronunciation, the story touches our hearts, and we memorize it easily. Don't you think so? For me, the confusion of the children reminds me to think about my freedom while reading it aloud.

Do you sometimes feel that adults limit your freedom? I think we get confused when we just don't understand why they do this. I felt depressed once when my parents said I can only study for medical school. That was my most unforgetable experience of being asked to limit my freedom or free.
Why are the adults behaving the way they are? I guess when someone has grown up, he or she might have also experienced something we children can't imagine. It might be hurtful, might be valuable, might be wonderful, might be something they just hope their children to "skip".
Now my parents don't insist that I have to be a doctor in the future anymore. I'm still thinking about it anyway--It's just an interesting thought!
So strive for your freedom or free! Whether the freedom to be who you really are or who you you're going to be. But you have to be able to handle it right. How to know if we're handling it right? That's what you're learning at school and in family now!

the big box

Q:Why are the adults behaving they way they are?
Why do they put the children in a box?
A: i think that some of the adults are too self-righteous and so they want everything to be just what they want. and abridgment the children's freedom.
they thought what they have done for the kids were the best. but actually if we just follow thier arrangement then our life should be thiers instead of our owns.

Q:Why did the author write this story to sound like poetry?
A: i think by writing as a poem can stand out for the main idea and to let the readers know what she really wants to say. and maybe it means that this status is a common problem between the adults and kids. it's quite considerable.

The Big Box

(author write this story to sound like poetry)
Maybe the author want to show his work to some children but he doesn't want to write too boring but interesting.
(Why are the adults behaving they way they are? Why do they put the children in a box)
They think those children are big problems and don't know how to do so they desided a big deal but didn't think careful. Only put the children into the box so that they don't have anyone to trick or bother somebody else.

Well, I think the adults have their thoughts but they ignor what the children think. And sometimes, the children ignor other's thoughts, too.

the BIG BOX! by Eileen

Question and Answer.

Q: When the children get free, where do they go?
A: I think they probably gonna go to the place they've always wanted to go, definitely far away from that big box.

Q: What were the adults afraid of?
A: They're being too restrictive to their child. Once those children made mistakes, the adults immediately put them into the big box, they're afraid of those children would become some kinda bad people, which is what they least wanted to see.

Q: Why was there a box with three locks?
A: I think those three locks symbolized all the rules and restriction from parents. They are like locks which locked the children's broad mind inside the big box, unable to get free.

Thursday, March 20, 2008

The Big Box

When the children go out of the box I think they stayed in the wild and stayed away from their parents so the parents don’t tell them to go back. The adults were afraid of the children to get crazy and get hurt. They were very protective about any child who goes crazy and get hurt. They didn’t want the parents to cry and get depressed about their child is not with them anymore.

Locks

After they get out of the box they will go to some different state so there parents don't know that they went missing until they go back on Wensday.

The big box

Question and Answer.
Q: When the children get free, where do they go?
A: I think they would live in nature and live together because they couldn't just live by themselvs. I would have run away and also live in nature and I would make and use tools.
Q: What were the adults afraid of?
A: I think the adults were afraid of the children hurting themselves or others. I would have been afraid of the kids going off and never coming back because they are so tied to nature.
Q: Why was there a box with three locks?
A: I think there was a box with three locks because the adults didn't wan't the children to have much freedom with nature. I also think that there was 3 locks because the children would have an idea of breacking out of the box.
Q: Why did the parents keep their children in a box?
A: I think the reason was that the parents couldn't think of anything creative so they chose a box. I think another reason is that the parents were lazy.

The big box

beavers

Dear Aris, The gifted program is a center for special education for kids who are above average instead of below average which is what most speical eduction is. It is called EEE for - I'm not sure what the letters are for. With The Big Brown Box we've been learning the ways you can figure out ways to solve patterns and ways to break things down because we have been breaking many boxes down. I thought it was cute with the little tiny beavers that are so adorable with their buck teeth . . it was cute that they were chewing a hole ain th box while the kids were tearing it down. When you look at the page that tells you about the butterfly and you look at Patty and she is holding the butterfly and it is the same with Liza . . .the thing thatthey are holding is the same thing that is in their room. The illustrations look like they were cut of things or they were water-colored. The sides of the box are cracking on the last page. The locks on the door are locks on their freedom. I like the line that says "If freedom is handled just your way then it's not my freedom or free." I really like that line because it's talking about how parents shouldn't just be allowed to take their freedom away. The parents aren't asking them what they want to do. Parents take the freedom away but it isn't their freedom to take away because freedom isn't a priveledge - it is a right. You don't have any power to take away anyone's rights.

From what the picture shows (the chart on the door) it looks like they never had any freedom to begin with. On the picture where Patty is with the adults and all of her things are on the table it shows pictures of people and nature. She really wants to have friends and play outside so she draws pictures of nature.

theory

Do you know why all the nature stuff was in the book? I don't have a very good idea but I have theory. So if you have a theory or a good idea please post me. My theory is that the children don't get to go out side and enjoy nature so there parents bring it to them.

my box

I think that it is wrong for children to be trapped in a box. I think that they should let the children go outside because it is bigger and better and people usaly get a lot of enorge out playing outside rather than being stuck in a box.

By: Sydney/friends☺

I think that the authors said that the door has three big locks because it sounds better than saying that the book has one big lock. What I think is cool is how they get the fake nature things; the sky picture, the butterfly under class and a fake fish and when there is genuine dirt and the recording of the sound of a seagull and the film of the fresh running brook. I think that the parents are trying to make up for the the things the kids are missing out on but they are doing it in the wrong way becasue they are giving them fakes things except for the dirt. What they really should do instead of keeping their kids in the box should let them out to run free. I think the kids should get out of the box and even if they get in trouble, I would rather get in trouble and be free. I think that the parents what the children to be perfect little angels and it is hard to be perfect little angels when you are trying to have fun so I think the parents stuck them in the bos so the kids could have a lot of fun and then come back and be the perfect little angles that the parents want them to be. The box is kind of like a prison because the kids can get in and out . . the can get in but they can't get out. How come the parents can get out but the kids can't It doesn't have a lid so why don't they climb out. At the end they are getting their freedom back because they are climbing out of the box and the box is falling apart and the beaver is chewing a hole in it and the rabbits are helping to tak the box down. The rabbits and the beavers are the two animals that are named every time . . .the rabbits will hope and the beavers will chew trees when they need them. This book is more about kids not getting what they deserved becasue the deserve to get to be kids. The kids will become adults and won't have a chance to be kids first. They talk about all the good things the kids do and the They say the rabbits and beaver line before there is always a line the sparrows will sing and the porpoises will scream and that is always about the kids' head and around it they were saying all the good things that kids do. I notice about the illustrations that some look like they have been cut from magazines and otehrs look like they have been printed off the computer and some look like they have been drawn by kids. I like the way the parents are always walking out the door and they are dressed all happy. They look all happy when they are outside and they look sad when they are in the big box.

The Big Box

Question: What was the box made out of?
I think it is made of rusted Steel because if it was cardboard the children would be albe to get out by themselves.
Question: Why didn't the children try to escape the box?
I think the children wanted to but they thought they might get in trouble.
Question: Why did the children think they would get in trouble?
I think the children would think their parents would be mad and look for them and put them back in the box.
I think the children should have thought the box was cardboard and brake the jar and use it to break out. I also think that the parents should have been more empathetic. What do you think?

The Big Box/ hotstuff

Do you think it is a cardboard box? I think it is a cardboard box. Do you think it was fair that the kids got stuck in the box and their parents only visited them every Wednesday night? I don't it's fair, becasue I am going to miss my grandmom and my mom. It wasn't nice for their parents and neighbors to make thsoe choices by giving them the rules to follow. Would you want to be those kids in that box with no nature only stuff that your mom and dad bought you? no that gust plain mean♥☺

the big brown box

The book the big brown box was pointless i didnt know the meaning well i think i do.i think the meaning was that the author was trying telling us that every kid or even the grown people can handle their freedom to some level a good or bad level.the kids were telling the grown people at the end of their punishment that the grown people were controlling the kids freedom not their own!the kids said our freedom is yours now because your controlling it now notm us and we should all control our own freedom not the grown people!!!

questions for The Greatest Power

Q1: Why did Ping invite children to the palace instead of adults?
Ans:
I think it's because that children are more creative than adults, and their thoughts are purer also, so ideas of what is the greatest power they came up with might be much closer to the real meaning of "Harmony".

Q2: All the children were competing to be the one chosen to be prime minister. Why were the children working with each other instead of competing with one another?
Ans:
Because those children wouldn't bother to share the credits from their hard-working,and it's easier to accomplish their goal with more people working together.

What's life?

I think because we are "alive", we can make a lot of implements to help ourself to living easier. For example, you can read my article when you're in USA but not in the same place with me. Computers are also the invention and it actually makes us live convenient.
So, we people can do a lot of things unless we're died.

the greatest power in the world

it's taken when we win the championship
there is great love between us

i thought

the greatest power in the world is

LOVE

it is the greatest power in the world

it make a life begin

make a girl turn into a mother who can give everything,do everything,...

just because LOVE

as we have seen

a mother can die for her children

a father can kill himself for his kids

a teacher can immolate herself for his students......

the reason they did these is nothing but LOVE

if there is no love

how can a life be continued?

if one is alived but living without love

and then why he exists

love isn't just between humans

it can also be found in the whole universe

a grass's growing is because of the sunshine's love

a flower's beauty is because of the soil's love......

so i think

great though a life is

LOVE is even more important

The Greatest Power

..
I think Ping did invite the children to the palace. Because he maybe wants some inspiration from the children. And he thinks that children maybe will do better because they are younger and if they are chosen to have the greatest power in the world, they would be emperor for longer. And they make better laws for longer. They might have better things around in their heads.
I noticed on the cover that when you see the dragons going around in the circle it looks a lot like that symbol that is five bats are connected. I'm not quite sure what the five bats mean but when I saw it it reminded me of that bat symbol because the bats are like in arches like the dragons tails go down like where the bats head and body are. In the gifted program at our school there is a class on bats and that is what I'm taking and that's where I learned about the bat symbols because there are books that have that symobl on it. There is a national association for people who help endangerd bats and they adopted that as their symbol and that's where I learned about it When Sing was talking about how the money and ideas and armies fade I was thinking the same thing because when you think things are the greatest power they really aren't because they really don't last. If money were the greatest power and you spend it then you know longer have it and beauty fades and you don't have it because that is the natural thing and armies can't last forever. You can get more people but eventually you run out. I don't know if the kids were really working together but they shared ideas. When you think about it what happened was what they did . . . they were helping each other; they were all making the same kind of costumm but it never says they were really working together. The part of the seed that will grow into the plant is in the center . . . the rest of the seed is just protecting it. The author says it is nothing because she was comparing it to the heavens and the earth and there isn't really nothing . . .there is just like air and time majigs.

the greastest power

he Greatest Power was touching because it was about a little girl named Sing that said life is "the greatest power." One of the perspectives of the boys was that the greatest power was money and I disagree because what if like someone had two dollars and that was the highest amount of money and you had a dollar over and that would be three dollars and what could three dollars buy you. Money is not everything. There is more to life than money. Another perspective was the the girls said that beauty was the greatest power and I disagree to that too because some guards wouldn't like beauty that much, and they wouldn't do whatever you tell them to do,and you would be in a BIG JAM! I agree with Sing and not the others because you couldn't have money or beauty without life so sing has to be right about life being the greatest power because you wouldn't be reading this right now so think a about this and bye! J4Y-71993R5 FR35H Y0 P34C3 0U7!!!!!

The greatest power in the world

I think Emporer Ping chose children instead of Adults because children rush and find a ISNTANT solution without thinking and Adults already know the answer to Emperor Pings question. But Sing thought about it and she became the prime minester. I think the children worked together because they probably thought that they could sabatosh thier project. I think that sing didn't think armies, Money or technology were the most powerful thing in the world because all of those could perish. I think the Author was trying to say is that LIFE is the most powerful thing in the world because life will always be around in at least 1 thing.

Read the book as a Chinese.

There's a theory in Chinese culture: Life never stops in this world. There's something called "道" keeps everything works. And life also circulates with it.
Sounds a bit hard to think it through, right? We all feel the same way. To learn how ancient Chinese thought is part of our curriculum. Sometimes it's interesting to me, but I am a little tired of being confused with some frustrating tests.
Anyway, this stroy is an easier version, so I enjoy reading it. I DO believe that the greatest and the most miraculous power is LIFE. Money and beauty are concerned as the most important thing for people, but they fade away sooner or later. That's part of theory I believe in.
Maybe you can find more in books in the library of your school. Trust me, reading it helps you to think and learn how live a meaningful and happy life.

The greatest power

hello !! first i have to say sorry because i was disappear for two weeks because my boken computer. and i think it's a meaningful book. people now usually have a lot of desires for everything, we try our best to get what we want. In the book it says that money, appearance are external thing. Maybe someday we will lose it but except our lifes. The power of iife is the greatest power, do you think so?

The Greatest Power by J4Y-71993R

The book the greatest power was touching because everybody (lol) at Sing (the the little main character). Because she thought life was the greatest power and she was right. If I got to be that ambassador guy I would’ve banished all of those who mocked and (lol) at her. I’ve would’ve done that because they were mean and dumb for (lol) at her. Sing was a very wise girl and smart for saying that life is the greatest power. I think that the greatest power in the world is life too because how could we be all alive right now typing and reading J4Y- 71993R’5 blog on blogger.com, and everybody else doing what there doing right this second. So if you disagree with me hit me up on www.blogger.com PEACE OUT J4Y- 71993R’S LEFT THE BUILDING!!!!!

My Story

I thought that Sing was actually like the only one who thought about what she was going to do and it turned out that she was right. I don't think that the other children thought like her . . . they didn't actually give it the time. When they mentioned the warrios it made me think of a movie I saw and my great grandma went to China and brought me back a warrior . .. I forget what kind of warrior it was but it is very cool and it is stone and my teacher has one also. It's molded after the remains of the warriors in a temple. There was a god that lived on a mountain who was angry at the world and a little bird came up one day and he told the bird that he wanted the world on fire by tonight. The little bird warned everyone on the villages in China and they came up with the idea to make red lanters . . .red, yellow orange to make it look like fire and put a light inside and that night they all went out and they helped them hang the lanters and the god was so pleased because he thought the bird had caught the world on fire but actually the bird saved them. One of my teachers showed us a video about this story and the story is from China also. They were making paper lanterns for the Chinese New Year. In the book they were making masks to scare about the evil spirits and the god got scared when he saw the lanterns becasue he thought the world would catch on fire.

Your Friend,
Sydney or friends

The most powerful thing in the world

I think the book is about a Eporer who is trying to figure out one question. "what is the most powerful thing in the world?" He thinks the answer is the balance of life. If I was one of the children I would bring Emporer Ping a little bit of everything. I also think that if Sing would'nt have figured it out the Emporer would have had his question unaswerd. I will blog next week!

Bye :)

Nikolai's three questions

sorry for posting this so late!

What this book is about is really touching. Most of the time we wonder what is the best thing to do and we always chase after those thing that are far away from our real life. But I think we should slow down our step and do what is now right beside you, hold your friendship tight, do whatever need to do, that would be the true meaning of "Seize the Day"

About "The Greatest Power"

In this story, through the emperor’s question, I realized that the greatest power is come from the life, the meaning of life but the form of strength, knowledge and beauty. Human are liked the lotus’ seed, we’re now the seeds and when we get married, we’ll become the flower and give life to our children, the new seeds Always, the answer is in ourself but we just find answers ouside but not in our mind.Anyway, it’s fun that I once know that Guan Yu is the money god.

Thursday, February 14, 2008

We read the book we the second time today. I noticed how dramatic the pictures were. There was a lot of action in the pictures. I read a book recently about - it was called "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen and in the story Gary explained the boy named Brian's problems like how his parents got divorced because of another man and his mother's life. Brian was trying to figure out the answers to his problems and so is Nakolai. They both figured out their own problems by themselves . . .instead of people just giving them the answers they learned themselves.

#1 question

After i get my homework i feel like it's the right time to play video games, sleep, help around the house,go outside, watch TV,or get on the computer!i like to do all of these things because there fun, helpful, and appropriate for my age!if your reading this do you agree with me?my name is J4Y-71993R!

BY J4Y-71993R
I think that when Nikolia helped Leo it showed that he cared for people and if Nikolia had not stopped to help Leo dig the whole book would never have happened and then he wouldn't have gotten answers to his thre questions. If he hadn't helped the Panda might have died and the child might have gotten lost and never found. If he hadn't gone to help the Panda then he never would have known tht he had to help find the child and if he hadn't found the child he would't have foudn the answer to his question. When the author says the last line of the story when he says "That is why we are here,: I think he meant that if we didn't have the answer to these questions then there would be fighting and there wouldn't be a human race and we wouldn't be here. The answer to these three questions is what keeps the human race going because if we didn't know the answers because the answers are what kept us on the earth. Humans can't always get along but with those answers it will help us be better people because if we're better people we'll become a better world and Nikolai whated to be a better person. I think the illustrations helped tell the story because the illustrations were kind of dark and scary when th Panda got hurt and when he helped the Panda and put the splint on her leg the illustrations got brighter.
I don't get the red kite, but the red kite always told us where Nakolia was because you could basically look up the string and Nikolia would be there. One of the times when I knew was the best time to do something was when two of my friends were in a fight and I had to decide which one to stick up for and it's hard because they were by my side. The reason I knew that was the most important one - actually, it was both of them, but if there are two people by your side you have to do it for both of them.. The right thing I did and I knew it was to stop the fight and that would be doing good for both of them and that way I had the anwers to all the quetions and I ws able to do it for two people and not just one.Nikolia had helped the Panda and she was desperate for her child and he still listened to her and he made sure he saved the child before he went back. If he given up his search for the Panda then the little baby Panda might have died.

the time is right (story

The three Questions

I think that if Nikolai didn't help Leo, Nikolai's questions would't have been answerd.
I think the illustraitions helped me because of the way the illustraiter used the color and angle's.
I think the last line in the story means that we are all hear for a reason, for example. If Nikolai wasn't digging with leo the panda or the panda's babby probably wouldn't have made it through the storm. If Nikolai hadn't heard the panda the same thing would of hapened. One day I made a decision to ask someone to do a favor for me and I know it was the right time to do something. I also knew that it was the right thing to do because I couldn't do it myself. I knew it was the right person to ask becsuse I could barely trust anybody else.

It's meanful

I've asked the 3questions to myself before, but I couldn't answered it. I think the turtle is wise that he let Nikola find the answer by himself. So that he can always keep the three saying in mind.
When I feel lost and don't know what I have to do next, I'll tell myself the three answers. It can give me a way to think and show what I have to do next.
The book is meanful and I like the panda! They're so cute! I love this book!

YOONS CHRISTMAS

the book is really touching it mad me ccccccccccrrrryyyy becuase her parents wouldn't let celebrate christmas.

hot stuff

why dose he want those Q to be answered?
I think it's because somebody in his family might have questions and that's why he asked the questions, so he can tell his family the answers to these questions.

His family is less fortunate because he did not have good clothes to put on. He was wearing some shorts that had rips and holes in his shorts.

He had an interesting name, like Tikk Tikk Tombo, which is our chior's play and I am in it. It's fun to sing Chinese New Year, especially Tikk Tikk Tombo.

Nikolai and the book

Do you agree with the answers? I think it was a wise thing to do to let the boy Nikolai find out the answers by himself. I also think it was great what Nikolai did for the Pandas. And i'm glad that the baby Panda was not injured. I also think it was brave that Nikolai went agin out into the pouring rain and saved the baby Panda bear.I think the lessons were well learned with hope and mystery.Because you didn't know what the answers to the lessons were untill the end. I'm glad Nikolai got his answers to his questions in a well learned way.I think the turtle sort of played the role of the old wise man. And usally you have to learn from your self instead of the old wise man. And thats just what Nikolai did. I think it was in a well learned way because he learned by himself instead of the old turtle

Happy Chinese New Year,
Friends(A.K.A) Sydney

One Question

I think that Nikolai, instead of asking the three questions could have asked just one, "What should I do?" Even though he was trying to figure out the answer was a good thing, he was being lazy because he was just asking other people to give him the answer instead of trying to figure out the anwer on his own. He could have asked even 100 questions. He could have just figured them out on his own. That's way I think the book was trying to you . . . so you don't have to ask all those questions so you know. Nikolai was doing it for a good reason . . . he wanted to make sure he could do good and no one else would get left out and no one would feel Nikolai wasn't doing good all the time becasue that is what he wanted to do. I thought the friends that were animals were cool . . . the monkey was acting like most monkeys do and the crace, she was trying to make sure he was gentle. With the dog . . I think the dog was trying to include all of his friends because dogs live in packs and always have other dogs around and he wanted Nikolia to have lots of friends. I don't know what the monkey was trying to give him but it might have been compassion. The monkey's answers were like how do you heal the sick and how to pay close attention and he said that because if you pay close attention you know who is being left out . I also think he wanted make sure he was having fun because when Nikolai asked the qusetion, What is the right thing to do? the crane and dog both put in an answers that fit themselves but the themonkey had one that can fit anybody because in his it was having fun all the time. I just now noticed that every time you see Nikolai he has a bright red kit that is on the cover and sometimes when you can't see the kite you can still see the red string and when he starts to go back home and both of the pandas have good home you see that he has his kite again. I didn't think the kite was important to the story but it was just a cool thing popping up in the illustrations. I think that the turtles answers to the questions were the best because he gave answers that everyone can use and I think they had a whole lot of meaning and basically the whole idea through all the questions is what you do now. They are all kind of saying that what you do then and now is different because what's happening now is probably never going to happen the same way again and what happened in the past can be important like if one of your famly members die that doesn't mean you have to forget them but you kind of need to forget the parts that aren't important because if you live in the past you will miss opportunties that you probably won't get again. And because if you are living in the past things are going to pass you by and you're not going to realize and and what the turtle said about the most important time is beoing now and I agree with that because he is actually right about that. The most important time is now.

the three questions

nikolia will not leave people alone about his questions.why doesnt he just move on with his life.i cant believe he has animal friends.thats weird! nikolai is very generous when he saved them pandas.i bet it took alot of strenght to carry that big panda!all the way to that house! i have 1 questions for the author.why are animals nikolai's friends?

The Tree Questions

I think Nikolai had asked the three questions because he was in deep thought.
I think that if the Panda bear didn't cry for help Nikolai probably wouldn't have had his questions answerd. I also think that Nikolai was also helping the turtle because he was
bored. I think the best time to do things is when you think something is best. I think Nikolai's friends (the animals) were all trying to make Nikolai choose and say "Who is better?". I think the turtle was thinking that if he waited, Nikolai would answer his own questions. I think the most important one in the story is Nikolai because he is always thoughtful. I think what Nikolai did was the right thing to do. I also think that Nikolai is the person who makes the disicion's for everyone in the group. Nikolai probably made his three questions because he wanted to figure out the three thing's that are bothering him and he wanted to know. I think Nikolai was trying to find out how to figure things out on his own but he dicided he needed help.

Yoon's Christmas/hot stuff

Why does Yoon's mom and dad don't want her to celebrate? Because they are poor and they don't want her to feel that she needs to have a poor Christmas. Another reason is that her mom and dad don't want her to turn out to be bossy about her present.

Why does her dad keep on saying we are Korean family when somebody in my classroom said that they celebrate Christmas. And there are two people in my classroom who celebrate the same Christmas like the United States. That's what I don't understand.

What did Yoon and her classmate have in common?
They both believe in Christams and she has more friends to play and laugh and talk about Christams books.

the sequel to yoons christmas mitten

i think if i made the sequel the teacher's class and the class teacher will not do alot of christmas assignments so yoon doesnt get left out again so bye!

Illustrations

I illustrations are really detailed and made you think and in the once scene that had her bed made me wonder if her bed was really like that . . .not out in the open but the really high arches. The pictures were realistic but with the materials the artist used it kind of made it like a dream and it was all kind of blurry. It made me think a lot because instead of being from some one else's perspective it was like seeing into Yoon's mind. I that because it made me think about what she was thinking. I think what happened with the illustrations that as Yoon was getting madder the pictures were getting darker and when she was happier the pictures seemed like everything was better . . .when she was angry the pictures had like reddish tinge to them. What stands out to me is that Yoon knew they hang up stockings but she hung up a mitten. She knew they hung up stockings by the fireplace and she knew she couldn't so she made the best of it and hung the mitten by the edge of her bed.

yoon-----crourage

i think yoon had a lot courage to stand up for cristmas and i know this sounds like a gushy commerical but it's true

I think that Yoon wanted to do something different and get to know the new culture better.
And thats why she wanted Christmas. And that her classmates liked and it seemed cool so she wanted to try it out and see if it was fun. I think that at first Yoons parents were beenig a little harsh because all she wanted was Christmas, and her parents didn't want her to. I liked the pictures in the book because they were great and colorfull and they went along with the story and they make you think about the story.

what i think about this book

Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. I don't believe that Santa would actually ride on a sledge and climb into those chimneys, but i do believe that on Christmas days, there are people who are as kind as Santa Claus that will bring us gifts and fortune. These people may be our mom and dad, or it could be anyone who loves us and who we love. I think it is nice of Yoon's parents to accept her idea of being both American and Korean. The true meaning of Christmas should not be whether it's an American holiday or Korean holiday, but about the love we share on that day :D

Thursday, January 24, 2008

I loved the book, because it was about Christmas, one of my favorite holidays. Yoon's parents don't believe in Christmas because they are from a different country but she convinced them differently because now they live in America. She convinved them because she kept on trying to have Santa Claus come to her house and give her presents. It seems like after Christmas Yoon just went up and started talking without any guidance. She was talking about her culture and the New Year's celebration. She showed them what presents she got. She told them Santa brought her some of the North Pole and the students corrected her and told her to take a lick and how good it was. She didn't understand but the teacher told her. It seems that just a simple candy cane was a special gift for her because it was her first Christmas. She didn't give up trying when her parents told her they can't have Christmas.

SNOOPY PIPER

Yoons family does not celebrate chirstmas only new years yoon just kept trying to convince her mother and father to let her keep the stoking up

The Christmas Mitten

I think the book is about a girl who likes the spirit of Christmas and her Parents won't alow it. I think Yoon's parents are not fond of Christmas in the begining and then start to like it as Yoon starts to like Christmas more and more.
Bye :]

the book

i think yoon was curious all about christmas and yoon didnt know any thing about christmas. yoon's mom and dad at first were very mean and strict about their heritege in my opinion.yoon's school was doing alot of activities about christmas.i laughed alot wgen yoons mom jumped back ithink she never saw a squirrel before shes was really scared and yoons mom and dad really care about their bushes.i thought kareans celebrated christmas?it all changed when yoon told her parents they were both american and korean.then they thought about it.when yoon saw santa(her dad) put the box on the floor she got soooo excited and what was in it.i think her dad or mom got her that dress.i couldnt believe yoon thought a peppermint was part of the north pole.when she ate the peppermint i think she loved it.since the book is about christmas i dont think reindeer or santa is real.and at the end it all worked out!!! j-t1pp3r

......I LOVE CHRISTMAS......

i love this book very much.because of its story, pictures, and the belief in Christmas.

just like the girl in the story,i believe in santa and the christmas story.i believe santa exists not because i think he really will bring me present (that is always mamy who gives presents).but because i think there are always good things happening on christmas day.
it is always difficult for parents to believe in fairy tales.but i think they cant just break children's imagination.they need to protect their children's childhoodbecause it will be the happiest time in our lives.

I have an experience...

I have do the same thing before.
Last year, I wanted to join a club which may took many time away and had no time to study. But the lessions in that class are very useful and fun! But my mom didn't let me to go. But I didn't listen to my mom's words (I'm so bad...) and signed up. And my mom gave in to me!!!
I think doggedness is really effective when you want something or to do something.
If Yan didn't insisted what she wanted, her parents may not think deeply they are Korean but in America.
